Dear Reader
Well, I lost my mom a couple weeks ago. Like my sister said, "We won the Mom Lotto." Ya know, she was 94. Everyday was the "best day" to my mom. Every picnic was the "best picnic." Every visit was the "best visit." And ya know, she went out the same way. Waited till those who should be there were, and waited for those who shouldn't be had gone. Told us she loved us. Told us she wanted us to be happy. And when we turned our back, she left. Just like that. All cozy and smiling in her comfy bed. Boy, how lucky can you be? I miss her and think of things I'd like to share with her, and ask her, but I know she's with me, and knows what I'd like to share, and will somehow give me the answers I seek. Thanks Mom! Thanks for all the doublemint gum when I got hurt. Thanks for giving me an optimistic outlook on life! Thanks for making me the prettiest dresses ever, and nighties with matching slippers, when I would be in the hospital for tonsils or eyes. I was certainly the envy of every patient in the kid ward. Thanks for bringing the little girl in the hospital bed next to me a polka dotted stuffed animal, too. Thanks for teaching me to appreciate every day, every sandwich, every picnic, every visit, bare feet, cool breezes, and not taking life too seriously. Say hey to Dad and Nana and Grandpa and Jacquie. I am who I am today because of you.

LOL 1 Shopping carts Zip
Dear Reader
Well, I beat the shopping carts. Every last one of them. Beat em fair and square. hah. As far as I can tell, they mostly work, too. Please let me know if you have a problem, so I can nip it in the bud. I'm a little overwhelmed, to tell you the truth. I keep going over in my head, "carts-check; font-check; color-check, size-check, Images: banner, my profile-check; Our Story and FAQs updated-check; PayPal-check; Etsy-check..." Hhmm. I'm pretty close, I think. Well, cool.
Now, what to incorporate in my Blog--Fun! That's what. I like food and clothes and chocolate and history and music and film and, well, all sorts of things. Pies. Small pies. Savory pies. We eat a lot of enchiladas and burritos and things you can stuff into a tortilla. So I made a pork mixture. It was on sale, so I bought some, cut it up, threw it into a casserole pot with some canned toms, and garlic, and onion, and carrots, and cheese, and olives, and probably some greens, like kale or chard, oh yeah, and some cumin, chili powder, and s & p. Mixed that all together and baked covered for like 2 or 3 or 4 hours. I wasn't really paying much attention. Every hour, or so, I'd give it a stir, and set it for another hour. The last half hour, or so, I took the lid off, so it'd thicken up a bit.
I had more mixture than tortillas, but I had some pie crust in the frig., so I cut out little rounds and fit them into a cupcake tin and filled them up with the enchilada mixture. Cooked them for, hhmm., I don't remember if I cooked them according to package instruction for the pie, or not. I don't think so. I'll have to check on that. Anyway, they were dandy! Piette's. Piettas. Little Meat Pies. Here's a Pie~Bye.
Well, it's a relief to have all that hooked up. I'll tell ya that.
Sincerely
Andi

Where's Hanukkah?
Dear Reader
Oh my gosh! My Hanukkah page is gone. I was copying and pasting html codes for shopping carts on my Halloween page, and all of a sudden, it said I was on the Hanukkah page. Of course, I must have pushed the Hanukkah button, but sheez, how the heck did all of sudden, my Hanukkah page turned into my Halloween page. Unfortunately, that will take some time to fix, but oh well, learned two things. 1. Press that Backup and Restore Button, and let it finish. I pushed it once, but it was taking so long, I got a little nervous, so I cancelled it. 2. When the computer asks me questions like, "Am I sure I want to do this?" Read it and to think about it, but I could bet dimes to donuts, whatever that means, that if I'd have been paying better attention the screen, I would still have a Hanukkah page that has Hanukkah Letters, rather than Halloween Letters. ug

Shopping Carts
Dear Reader
Oh My Gosh! The shopping carts kicked my butt today, for sure. I was rolling along pretty smoothly, and then everything just went wacky. Html? What the heck? I'm pretty sure it stands for Harder than Mary's log. Everything looks the same after awhile. My head began to see things...like the swirling disc in the old Twilight Zone episodes. I guess I've been out of practice with enabling them, because they sure weren't working when I clicked on them....and clicked on them.....AND CLICKED ON THEM! And then, I said to myself, I'm not gonna let you beat me, you darn shopping cart! I was certain after 12 hours of working on 12 carts for St. Patrick's Day that there was a leprechaun somewhere in here laughing his head off, but I beat him! My goal is to have all of them hooked up by the end of the week before I go back to work next week, but I sure would like to go see my mother! I'm banking on them going off without a hitch tomorrow, that's all you can do, right?
Well, with regard to my post the other day about "browsing" at the mall, I need to work on my browsing skills. They pretty much suck. Next time I'm leaving my debit card at home. Well, I've got to be able to justify it somehow, right? Let's see.....It was a couple weeks after Christmas, and they were practically standing in the doorways handing out bags of clothes! We got a pretty cranberry cardigan for $7.00. Now how could you pass that up? But really, next time....NO CARD!
The idea of going to every store sure was fun, though. We certainly didn't hit every store. I think we'd have to camp out there for a week, but we hit quite a few, and it was really fun to see different things. Did you know they actually have cute clothes for new fledgling seniors? I never stepped into a Coldwater Creek, or well, I can't remember the names of the stores, but the ones I've never walked into that have little to no junior sizes. I was pleasantly surprised. We had fun. Next time. No Debit Card!
Until next time, Adieu!

Welcoming 2013!
Today is a gift, that's why we call it the present. 2013 will be the best year ever! Isn't that the best way to look at the beginning of every year? I think so. And I plan on doing every single thing I can to make it just that. The Etsy store is almost up and running. Letters of Lore, the blog, has a new look, which I'm pretty tickled about, to tell you the truth. My family, which probably should have been mentioned before Etsy and the Blog, is well. Dear old mom turned 94 on Christmas Day. If I didn't know she was going to end up at the Pearly Gates, I'd say being born on Christmas Day would get her a "get outa jail free" card by default, wouldn't you? But I don't expect that to happen for awhile anyway. After triple spiral breaks in her hips, and multiple pelvis, and shoulder, and arm, and leg, and probably every other bone in her body, the Energizer Bunny's got nothing on my mother. I noted that 2013 will be the best year ever, well, even though that sounds great, it would be almost to broad for mother, she's very specific with her "best evers." For example: We'll go have a picnic, and she'll say, "Isn't this wonderful? This is the nicest picnic I've ever been too!" You take her to the deli and buy her a sandwich, and she'll say, "This is SO GOOD! This is the best sandwich I've ever had." You go visit, "Isn't this swell! This is the nicest visit ever!" Do you see a pattern here? Well, the nicest part about it, is she's being straight. Seriously. My mother is the most positive individual I know. Granted, if she doesn't like something or doesn't want to do something, she's learned after 94 years, to voice her opinion. And I think that's great. She should. You're the greatest, mom! So, today and tomorrow and the next day and every day after that, I'm going to try to be more like her and appreciate every single second. Today my daughter and I are going to a rather large mall. We are going to practice our "browsing" skills. Seriously, we usually buy something, but today, we are going to just look. Just for fun. And what's more, we are going to try to visit every single store. All of them. We've never attempted either goal, but we're looking forward to it. I should probably leave my debit card at home. hah! Wish us luck! And I hope your 2013 is THE BEST YEAR EVER! I know it will be for mom mom.

Gratitude
Dear Reader
I'm really lucky. I don't have much money. I don't have much "stuff" really. I don't really even have a car with a finished front end, but I love Old Red. Old Thunder, my T Bird. She runs. She always starts, so what if she's got a black eye. My point is not to complain. I'm not really, because I have family and a few good friends. Who needs more than a few good friends anyway? I have children who would do anything for the people they love (including me :)). I'm taking some time off right now to take care of my daughter who is sick. My coworkers put together a basket with fruit and cookies and candy canes and DARK chocolate, and if that wasn't enough, they included a $30 gift certificate to our local authentic mexican restaurant where you can get the most delectible fish tacos, and a card full of kind thoughts of encouragement. We are lucky. I am lucky. I got a lot of work done today on my ETSY store. All my holiday letters are uploaded, and tomorrow, I'm going to upload my Birthday letters--well, samples of my Birthday letters, as I don't have 365 pre-made, or let's see, 730 pre-made, actually, since there are 365, wait a minute, 366, including Leap Year, so that's 732 possible birthdays, if you count leap years and boys and girls. And that's just the base set, because what would be entertaining to a 5 year old, is not interesting to a teen, so, really, the possibilities are endless, so back to what I was saying, I'm only uploading the birthday letters I have so far, which is only about 6, as samples. Thanks all. (Which I think is just me right now.) That's alright, I've been away some time. And since I still have shopping carts on my blog, which aren't hooked up right now, it's probably best that I don't have a million followers.....yet. :) I am lucky. Really lucky. I have my health, even though my shoulders don't always do what I want them to do. I have an external hard drive. Hah! Go ahead and crash computer, this time I'm ready for you. I am lucky that the Geek Squad was able to get my research and letters off my old hard drive. I surely would have been screwed if that weren't the case, but it would have been a good lesson, one I'm so grateful I didn't have to learn the hard way. Yep. I'm lucky, and so very grateful.
